McDougall Insurance Brokers Ltd. has formed a new strategic partnership with Tailored Insurance Services Inc. in Richmond Hill, Ontario.

Tailored is a portfolio-driven boutique insurance brokerage with skills in commercial program business and specialization in machine shops, photography and graphic design. According to Tailored’s website, the company also provides general commercial insurance coverages, as well as personal lines, including home, auto, mobile home and motorcycle insurance.

McDougall said it’s excited to work with Tailored on efforts to broaden the greater Toronto area (GTA) brokerage’s program across McDougall’s national footprint. It also seeks to “capitalize on Tailored’s specialized staff, while leveraging its scale and access to augment Tailored’s reach and customer service.”

This latest partnership continues McDougall’s inorganic growth in the GTA. The company said it has been adding an average of one new office every six months in the region since it acquired Cornell Insurance in Markham at the end of 2024. McDougall said Cornell and Tailored will work together closely to capitalize on the partnership.

“The Cornell team is excited to support and leverage Tailored,” said John Beadle, president of Cornell. “They are a fantastic organization with unique skills that see the industry in the same way we do.”

Lorne McDougall, vice president of McDougall Insurance, added: “Tailored was a rare opportunity for us to partner with a business that both shares our entrepreneurial culture and brings new expertise and options for us to provide to our clients. We are confident our collaboration will produce meaningful gains for the clients of both organizations and we appreciate this opportunity to further build our story in the GTA.”

Tailored President Gary Spry will remain with his firm following the deal.

“This process was motivated by customer service,” Spry said in public statement. “Tailored takes its obligations to clients very seriously – and partnering with McDougall gives Tailored’s clients access to a market-leader in our industry while providing Tailored access to a wealth of opportunity nationally. We look forward to collaborating with McDougall to take our respective businesses to the next level.”

McDougall noted its commitment “to supporting Tailored in maintaining the high standards of professionalism and customer service that Tailored’s clients have come to expect.”
